Did You Know That Obama Was Black?
One thing is for sure, Stephen Colbert doesn’t (as he has said on many occasions that he doesn’t see race, or gender for that matter). Today Barack Hussein Obama – yes, that is his middle name – injected race into the political campaign in order to stop Republicans from injecting race into the political campaign… I know, it doesn’t make sense to me either.
From CNN.com: “We know what kind of campaign they’re going to run,” said the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee. “They’re going to try to make you afraid. They’re going to try to make you afraid of me. ‘He’s young and inexperienced and he’s got a funny name. And did I mention he’s black?’”
From CNN.com: “They’re going to try to make me into a scary guy,” he said last week. “They’re even trying to make Michelle into a scary person. Right?” And so that drumbeat – ‘we’re not sure if he’s patriotic or not; we’re not sure if he is too black.’
From CNN.com: “The choice is clear. Most of all we can choose between hope and fear. It is going to be very difficult for Republicans to run on their stewardship of the economy or their outstanding foreign policy.
Well, his name isn’t so much funny as it is alarming – but that’s another story. What is funny is how the Democrats claim “fear” to be the solely under the dominion of the Republican Party. Hope and Fear are the two choices? Seems to me the two choices we have are Reality and Fantasy. The U.S. was attacked by terrorists, the same people we are fighting in Afghanistan and now Iraq. Seems to me we should be afraid of people who are so determined to kill us they are willing to blow themselves up to do it. Iraq did break the armistice from the first Gulf War, forcing us to remove that vicious dictator from power.
Sen. Reid: “We Stopped The Fighting [In 1991] Based On An Agreement That Iraq Would Take Steps To Assure The World That It Would Not Engage In Further Aggression And That It Would Destroy Its Weapons Of Mass Destruction. It Has Refused To Take Those Steps. That Refusal Constitutes A Breach Of The Armistice Which Renders It Void And Justifies Resumption Of The Armed Conflict.” (Sen. Harry Reid, Congressional Record, 10/9/02, p. S10145)
The housing crisis came about because people decided to not read what they were signing and got in way over their heads, making them unable to meet their payment obligations. Somehow it’s the fault of the Republicans that people are just too stupid – but then again, you don’t get elected by telling people that they caused their own problems. I guess we should fear our own stupidity and let the government regulate our lives for us.
Hurricane Katrina’s relief effort was George Bush’s fault. Really? It couldn’t be that the people of New Orleans were too stupid to heed the days of warnings that they should leave town? Oh, I know your saying, “Those people were to poor to leave.” Well, there are poor people that live in the Midwest, but you don’t see people stranded on rooftops during the current floods. Someone I know said, “The people in the Midwest were better prepared as it’s happened to them before.” I responded by saying, “Who should be better prepared for a flood – those that live in the center of the continent or those that live below sea level between a lake, a river and the Gulf of Mexico?” So, again, be afraid if you leave your life up to the protection and care of the government.
Obama claims to be above “politics as usual,” but conveniently dumps his principles at the first sign of an advantage (not taking the campaign funds that he said he would take, not allowing Muslims to sit behind him at speeches).
It seems to me that the Republicans deal in Reality while Obama’s “hope” lives in Fantasy. He desperately wants to make people believe that Republicans are “fear” merchants while it’s the Democrats who sell fear – fear that the conservatives and companies are coming to get you.
Democrats sell fear by saying McCain is going to stay in Iraq for 100 years, your phones are being tapped and your emails read, oil companies are robbing you blind and in bed with Republicans, Republicans want to tell you what you can do with your body – and the greatest fear smear of them all – Global Warming is going to get you and it’s the Republican’s fault!
Barack Hussein Obama – there is that middle name again – We don’t need to fear you because you are black, as we know your lack of experience along with your twisted domestic and foreign policy is enough reason to be afraid of how you will ruin our country.
