April Burns

April burns in cruel temptation

Like fires of so long ago

The tinder of the middle ages

A renaissance over the snow

.

Mild to summer’s wild abandon

Hell to winter’s icy grip

Misty rain in sheets of burden

And off the open’d petals drip

.

Acres wide the grass is greening

The sun climbs higher in the sky

In heaven, winter stars are reeling

Sliding down where they must die

.

Springtime blooms a billion colors

Blue-green, orange, violet, red

So much it seems like April’s burning

So much life, yet so much dead
