I’ve made a few changes to this blog. I don’t know how much I like it, so I may change things back, but I’m going to give it at least a few days to see if it’s a look I want. I may even tinker with the design some more.
I am frustrated, however, with getting a flash video to embed in my page. I don’t want to use a service like YouTube, as I cannot guarantee that the video will always be there in my archives as time goes by. I also don’t want to upload videos to there, as they have too many copyright rules and they will erase stuff they don’t like. I have an unlimited hosting plan, so I’d like to host and stream them myself. The process of getting those files into a browser-friendly player is no easy task, it seems. The players are either complex or very temperamental. They work one minute and the next they can’t find a certain file. They play one .flv file, but not another for no reason what so ever.
I’ve given myself a headache dealing with it so I’m giving up for the evening. I’ll figure out how to resolve this issue soon. I’ve like to be able to share stuff I find with you, and I want to make sure that it’s always there for viewing. “Video removed due to terms of service” from YouTube is not something I want to have to deal with, when I can download the video and host it myself so that I always know it will be there.
I will graciously accept suggestions on how to deal with this. Any ideas?
